Thank you for your interest in Nova Classical Academy! We are a free Minnesota public K-12 charter school providing a systematic, accelerated, college-preparatory education in the classical tradition.

Admissions for 2025-2026: Our Enrollment Lottery was held in mid-February 2025 and results were emailed immediately following. If you have not yet applied and would like to have your student added to the waitlist, apply here and your applicant’s waitlist position will be emailed once the application is processed. Applications are processed once per week. 

Admissions for 2026-2027: Our enrollment application opens every year on November 1st at 8 AM for the following academic year. The application is not first-come-first-served but we collect all the applications received between November 1 at 8 AM and January 31 at 4 PM and enter them into our mid-February enrollment lottery. The results of the lottery are emailed out immediately to the contacts on the application. After the lottery window closes on January 31 at 4 PM, all applicants are placed on the waitlists in the order received; there is a significant advantage to applying during the enrollment lottery window. The waitlists do not carry over from year to year so families must reapply for admission for each academic year and grade for which you are interested in enrolling your student. **All applicants for kindergarten MUST be 5 by September 1 of the year they wish to start kindergarten. 

Enrollment Offers:  When a student is accepted, an offer of enrollment will be sent by email to the address(es) on the application.  Please be mindful of the deadline to accept in the enrollment offer email.  If your student does not receive an offer of enrollment for the 2026-27 academic year, please consider reapplying for the 2027-28 academic year when that application opens this November 1.

If you missed out on our enrollment events for prospective families this season, please explore our website and newsletters for information about our educational and extracurricular offerings. If your student is offered enrollment, we will do what we can to make sure you feel informed to be able to make that decision. For new enrolling students, we have onboarding sessions to smooth the transition to attending. For incoming kindergarten families, we have a series of events to welcome the new class of 2039!

As a free Minnesota public charter school, we have a free and easy online application here as well as a paper version in the main office that we will enter for you into our application database. We have an “on-time application window” from November 1 at 8 AM – to January 31 at 4 PM every year for the following year’s enrollment. We process all these on-time applications and run a 6-tiered lottery on them in mid-February for openings and for the ordering of the grade-level waitlists. The three (6) tiers are:

1. Minnesota residents who are siblings of currently enrolled students according to NP-301

2. Minnesota residents who have a parent/guardian employed by Nova Classical according to NP-301

3. Minnesota residents who are general applicants

4. Siblings of currently enrolled students who do not reside in Minnesota

5. Applicants who have a parent/guardian employed by Nova Classical and who are not Minnesota residents

6. General applicants from outside Minnesota

Lottery results are available in the application portal and are emailed out. After the lottery, we do accept applications and make offers where space allows or add applicants to waitlists. General applicants will be added to the waitlist in the order received; to follow the MN statute that provides preference in enrollment to siblings of enrolled students and to staff children, applicants with this status will be placed on the waitlist according to their tier if they apply after the lottery or once they gain their preferential status. As we run at capacity in most grades, we are only able to offer a seat when a currently enrolled student unenrolls; then, we pull from the waitlists. These waitlists do not carry over from year to year. Applicants must reapply for each new academic year.

We are not currently hosting tours, but we do have a virtual tour on our website, as well as information about our educational program and extracurriculars on our website. As we make plans for the upcoming enrollment season in the fall, refer back to this website for updates on information events.
