Why I choose to work at Nova

I was sought out by a board member. I had gone back to work part-time at the Circus (great program right down the street) no kidding! I had been involved in the arts in the area for many years while raising my family. I went to Graduate school with teaching art in mind. I have always wanted to bring together teaching classroom Art and my love for Art History. Nova seemed like a great fit and I was ready to get back in the classroom.

Hobbies/Interests

All my free time revolves around my family. We love music, theatre, baseball (Twins – Go Cubbies) and all our great friends! I read books recommended by my children whenever possible.

Family

I have six children. My oldest daughter, Nicole, will be a sophomore at Rutgers University. She is a flute performance major. I have a senior, Annie and a freshman, Kelsey, at Cretin–Derham Hall High school. My youngest daughter Elise is in 7th grade at Nativity Grade School and my two boys, Ian (3rd grade) and Kevin (1st) attend the French Immersion School. My husband Randy is an Actuarial Consultant/musician/great Dad!

Favorite author/thinker/historical figure (and why)

I read and loved Toni Morrison’s “Song of Solomon” this summer. I look to my Dad who was a great investigative reporter as someone who made truth his life.

My favorite artists are many

Paul Klee, the ancient Egyptians, and children’s art! I love to wander in art museums when I have time. I always fall in love with something “new”. My favorite poet is Akhmatova.

Personal motto

Three things in human life are important: The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. The third is to be kind – Henry James

Not all who wander are lost – JRR Tolkien

Never apologize for your art – bumper sticker and button
