Dear Nova Families and Friends,
I am excited to introduce myself as the new Executive Director at Nova Classical Academy. Being named as the Executive Director at Nova has been an extremely exciting and humbling experience for me. Nova has distinguished itself as one of the top charter schools not only in Minnesota but in the whole nation and I am honored to have the chance to serve the Nova scholars, staff and community.
For the previous five years, I have served as the Superintendent of Kaleidoscope Charter School. Overseeing a building expansion, implementing a communication plan that resulted in 91% of families noting an improvement in communication and seeing ten year highs in both student and staff retention rates are some of the major achievements experienced under my leadership. Before being named the Superintendent at KCS I was their Director of Teaching and Learning, held a director position at a small private school, was a high school social studies teacher and coached high school and college athletics.
My prior experiences have instilled in me several beliefs that guide me as a school leader including:
- We must always strive to improve
- It is important to trust one another and assume that actions are conducted with positive intent
- Schools are at their best when they collaborate with parents and families
- Public schools (including charter schools) have a moral obligation to help all students reach their potential.
Educating your child is an enormous responsibility, and it is one that I don’t take lightly. Whether it is at the used uniform sale, Kindergarten picnic, New to Nova Orientation, Open House, athletic event, or in a different setting completely I look forward to having the chance to meet you!
It’s a Great Day to Be a Knight!
