Education Commissioner Alice Seagren visits Nova Classical Academy
On Thursday April 23, Education Commissioner Alice Seagren visited Nova Classical Academy. At her time at Nova, Commissioner Seagren gave an interview to the Nova Tribune, presented Nova with the Q-Comp program, and took part in a recognition ceremony.

Nova Classical Academy joined the cadre of school and districts who participate in the Quality Compensation program (Q-Comp). Q-Comp is a nation-leading program which recognizes teachers who continue to grow as academicians and educators. It affords opportunities for professional development and encourages schools to target student achievement. For the 2008-09 year, Nova Classical Academy received over $84,000 in Q-Comp funding.

In addition, Commissioner Seagren was present for a ceremony recognizing Nova student achievement on the National Latin Examination (NLE). Nova students in grades 6-8 took four levels of the NLE and many performed with high distinction.

One student, Mark, earned a perfect score on the examination. To recognize this extraordinary achievement, Commissioner Seagren presented Mark R with a Latin lexicon.
