The mission of the Nova Student Council is to begin the development of leadership skills in Nova’s older students. This is achieved through activities and discussions about what it means to be a leader, in addition to practicing leadership skills through the planning and implementation of various events and initiatives.

The student council includes four committees:

  • Service (in which students plan school wide service and charity events)
  • Social (in which students plan school wide social events)
  • Extracurricular (in which students work to bring new extracurricular activities to Nova), and
  • Advocacy (in which students represent the voice of the student body and their concerns through formal presentations to the administration)

Students are placed in committees based on their interest and committee assignments change halfway through the year. The student council meets twice a month and is a great opportunity for students to grow and develop as leaders in their communities.
