Annual Appeals Letter to Parents and Community
Nova Classical Academy is a school of which we are rightfully proud. Students, faculty and parents have all worked hard to make Nova one of the top performing schools in Minnesota. We could not have achieved this success without the voluntary contributions by our parents - of time, talent, and, yes, financial support. Last year's annual campaign raised nearly $21,000 to strengthen the Singapore math program and the language arts through The Writing Road to Reading training.
This year's annual appeal goal has been set at $50,000. These funds will be used for the benefit of Nova's students and to help prepare for the future. We want to enrich student learning and to continue training of our talented faculty. Our dream is that Nova will become a comprehensive K-12 classical model program.
In making your decision, please consider these factors. As a charter school, Nova does not have access to public funds that benefit other schools; Nova cannot ask voters to consider a referendum to increase property taxes as done by a public school district. We do not yet have the alumni base, or the endowments, that underwrite private schools' activities. Also, it is Nova's practice not to burden families with fundraising through the sales of gift-wrap, candy, and flowers.
Most importantly, Nova will not hold a large-scale community auction this year. Last year's event raised more than $16,000 for the art and music programs. Before making your contribution to this year's appeal, do consider the time, contributions and purchases you made to last year's auction.
Your financial contribution will be a vote of confidence in the leadership and governance of Nova. We are committed to being good stewards of your support. Last December, the school's independent auditor, who does work for 30-40 other charter schools, gave Nova and its Board high marks for the financial strength of our school. We are proud of this recognition and pledge our efforts to receiving your continued trust.
Please give this request serious consideration to insure Nova will continue to provide our students with not just a good education, but the extra margin of excellence for them to experience a great education. To make a tax-deductible gift, please fill out the enclosed card. For planning purposes, we ask that donations be made no later than December 31, 2007.
Your generous support will return as a gift and investment to our present student body and to Nova's future.
