2017 Nova Board Elections

2017 Nova Board Election

2017 Nova Board Election

Each year approximately 1/3 of the current Nova board membership of 11 is up for election.  This year, because of some resignations, five seats are up for election:

  • 4 parent seats: three for a three-year term and one for a two-year term
  • 1 teacher seat: for a three-year term

All terms begin on July 1, 2017.  The three-year terms end on June 30, 2020 and the two-year term ends on June 30, 2019.

By state statute, the eligible voters in charter school elections are (1) parents/legal guardians of currently enrolled Nova Students, (2) faculty/staff currently employed at Nova, and (3) community members serving on Nova’s Board of Directors at the time of the election.

The 2017 Nova Board Election process will conclude with the announcement of election results at the regular Board Meeting on May 22nd. Throughout this website you will find a number of resources to familiarize eligible voters and the community with the election and nomination process, the candidates themselves (after the Governance Committee meeting on April 10), and important dates.

Candidate Nomination and Questionnaire forms will be available beginning March 1, 2017 and must be submitted electronically no later than 4 pm on April 3, 2017.  You may print the forms from the 2017 Election page on the Nova Classical Academy website (via www.novaclassical.org) or request them by emailing the Nova Governance Committee at governance@novaclassical.org.  All candidates must complete a Candidate Questionnaire which will be made available to the entire Nova community.

If you have any questions about board service or the election process, you may contact the Nova Governance Committee by sending an email to governance@novaclassical.org.

Thank you,

The Governance Committee
