Nova Faculty
Nova Classical Academy seeks professional educators who are passionate about the classical model of education. We're building a small school with a focus on high academic standards for all learners in a content-rich, skills- and knowledge-based environment. Successful candidates will be enthusiastic learners and leaders, as well as outstanding classroom teachers. We are most interested in teachers who are prepared to teach multiple subjects and have the attitude and mind set to be flexible and accommodating during the growth of the school.

Open Positions
The following positions are open for the 2008-09 school year:

  • Fifth grade, full time
  • Math and Logic, grades 6-8, full time
  • Latin, grades 3-8, full time
  • First grade, full time
  • History, grade 8, part time (.4 fte)
  • Art, grades 6-8, part time (.6 fte)

Nova Classical Academy is a nurturing, small-school environment, and through the use of an academically accelerated and enriched curriculum, offers its learners a rigorous, thorough, systematic, challenging, K-12 college preparatory curriculum in the classical tradition. Nova Classical Academy is a charter school located in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Nova Classical Academy prefers teachers that possess the following:

  • An understanding of the classical model of education
  • Strong background in the liberal arts
  • Exceptional content and subject matter knowledge
  • Superb classroom instructional experience
  • Experience with different learning styles
  • Valid Minnesota Teaching Certificate required
How to Apply
Please read our detailed descriptions of the school and its instructional philosophy on our website (www.novaclassical.org). For those interested in applying for faculty positions, please send the following materials electronically (either as a Word attachment (preferred) or in the body of an email message):

• Brief letter detailing qualifications and interest, particularly grade level preference for faculty, and any secondary qualifications or expertise which could be of benefit to a small school (e.g., foreign languages, music, drama, athletics, etc.)
• Brief resume (a complete C.V. will be required of all finalists)
• Based on the description of classical education in the section entitled, “What is Classical Education”, write a five paragraph response to the following question: “How will my teaching help develop the student intellectually and morally?”

These three documents combined should not exceed five (5) total pages in length.

Electronic applications which exceed this page length requirement will not be reviewed. Finalists will also be asked to submit three recent letters of recommendation and copies of their two most recent performance evaluations prior to interview.
