Why I choose to work at Nova

I chose to come to Nova because I believe in educating the whole person. I found that movement, personal fitness, game skills, and sportsmanship can encourage students to be better people and give them confidence in other areas of learning. I was extremely excited to also have a critical role in building a school from the start. I am very pleased with how our school is growing and developing the Trivium, and thrilled to see how I can be helpful in future development.

Hobbies/Interests

My hobbies are mostly golf, tennis, and wake boarding, but I also love to work with my hands on projects involving wood and carpentry. Building things from scratch gives me a sense of fulfillment when finished. I am also a very novice gardener; I rely on my father to help me with that mostly.

Family

I have a wonderful wife, Jennifer, and our first son, Davis, was born April 27th, 2008. We love every day with him and witnessing the changes in how he grows.

Favorite author/thinker/historical figure (and why)

Pierre de Coubertin: Founder of the Modern Olympics. I enjoy making correlations of the Modern Olympics and the Ancient Olympics in discussions during Physical Education classes. I have always been extremely inspired watching the Modern Olympics since I was a little boy. I remember watching the 1980 Olympic Hockey team win the gold medal and thinking how great it would be to be part of something like that. It has been nice to bring a passion of mine to teaching students how the role of competition and the Olympic spirit can change your life.
