Why I choose to work at Nova

I chose to work for Nova because of its rigor and values education. As an educator, I believe our job is to find that “educational fit” for each student where they can find success yet be challenged. Nova does just that.

Hobbies/Interests

Traveling, Reading, Camping.

Family

I was born and raised in South Louisiana. I am the youngest of seven children, six being girls! I was born in New Orleans, but moved to Lafayette, the heart of the Cajun Culture, when I was seven. After college I moved to North Carolina where I met my husband, a native of Fargo. We currently live in Prior Lake with our 2 sons. William is in fifth grade and Hampton is in third grade.

Favorite author/thinker/historical figure (and why)

My favorite author is Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss. He touched our minds and hearts with his words and taught us love, compassion and tolerance.

My favorite thinker is Saint Augustine. He was a great theologian and thinker. Two of my favorite quotes from his sermons are:

  • “Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are.”
  • “Nothing conquers except truth and the victory of truth is love”

Personal motto

“Give me a fish, I eat today; teach me to fish, I eat for a lifetime”
